G'day.,
Doing research on a pending visit to Glasgow, I just discovered your
site and I couldn't find my school. It was Rockvilla Primary School
on the corner of Dawsons Road and Possil Road.
As its name
suggested it was built on a huge rock, but the school closed some years
ago and it has now been demolished ... although the rock still stands. I've
attached a photo - of Rockvilla School taken in the mid 70's

Rockvilla Primary School
on Dawson Road in Hamiltonhill, 1970s. The school was designed by John
Honeyman and built between 1874 and 1877. Hamiltonhill existed
only as a farm until 1925, when a series of new streets were laid out to
the north in an area previously known as Rockvilla. The new houses built
there were intended to accommodate people who had lived in areas such as
Calton where slum clearance programmes had been implemented. |
