This is Shirley's mother, Mary Crainey (nee Hamilton ), class
photograph . As was common in those days, Mary left
school when she was 11 years old to look after the 'weans'.
That was the end of her school days! Despite her short education you would
have been hard put to find a better speller or letter writer. Mary and her
husband emigrated to America in 1956.
Mary lived to the ripe old age of 93 and died in February 2002.
In our website her memory liveth for evermore.......
