Remember me - by the laughter, not the tears,
remember me - for the joy and fun we shared,   through  all the happy years
Please think of me, if you will, with a smile, when we all shared jokes
and laughed, at things we did a wee bit daft
If you smile - and if you laugh, sing songs, share fun and joy,
then I will join you in the toast
And think if you want to think of me.
lift up your glass so I can share, enjoy yourselves.....and I'll be there

TT (Tammytroot)
  Glasgow, Scotland    died March 2015
Sadly oor dear friend GlescaPal TT ( Tam O’Hara aka tammytroot) died last month.
He was born in Oakbank Hospital, Glasgow on 30 June 1948 and was brought up in Cranhill.
Sadly we had no notification of his death or funeral but his last post was on 20th March 2015. He had ill health and passed away peacefully on the 24th of March at home.

TT registered wi GlescaPals in June 2004 and was a regular contributor posting over 23,000 posts and when he hadn’t posted for a few days we feared the worse and two stalwart GlescaPals Annie and Norrie did some research and Annie came up with the sad news that TT had in fact died and his funeral had taken place. My sincere thanks to Annie for her diligence.

Unknown to anyone except Admin I had received a private message from TT in June 2013 which I can share with you all now…….
“Webmaister, I've been thinking long and hard about sending you this message, but have decided that it's only right to let you know how things stand with me. I'm afraid that I have serious heart problems that could kill me at any time.
I was first diagnosed back in March of this year, but things went OK for a while, until I took a suspected heart attack at the beginning of June. Further tests in the hospital showed up more problems, and it's really been a matter of going downhill since then. As you can appreciate, things have been very difficult for me, and I haven't been on the board a lot because of this. I don't know from day to day how things are going to be, but, generally, they're not good.

I have to thank You and Norrie and Nell for my nine years on the board, and all the enjoyment I've had, and I'm sure others have had as well, thanks to all your efforts. I will try to keep posting as long as I can, but I don't know how long that will be. God bless you all.

I would appreciate it if you kept this message to yourself, Nell and Norrie for the time being.
Your Glescapal
Tam

TT was clever and witty man, a kind man who never had a bad word for anyone.
His time on GlescaPals was filled with humour and passion. He was very knowledgeable in many subjects and would often use his ‘know-how’ to aid other GlescaPals. He loved a good debate and was skilled in using the messageboard to its full advantage sadly with the onslaught of facebook our messageboard like others are in decline and memberships are dwindling. A sign of the times. However TT loved the messageboard and to my knowledge never embraced the new technology of facebook.
He will be sadly missed by everyone and once again although we had never met we all feel like we knew him as a very close friend.
Bob, memaw, foster, AnnieMay, Wilma, WilmaB, Goldie, JohnC, OzBill, Andyt, Isobel, Norrie etc all regular posters on the GP messageboard will particularly miss this exceptional man.

I too am saddened to hear of the passing of TT. When he hadn't been on I thought something was wrong but then thought he may be staying at Balloch with his friends. I then made a few enquiries and was told this sad news. TT's sister said he loved his GlescaPals and it gave him great delight in 'talking' to his pals.
Rest In Peace TT.

JohnBoy  ( John Dempster, Cobourg, Ontario, Canada)
                                   Born June 19, 1939 Glasgow,
died September 2015.
Tribute from his daughter, Sharon Dempster Forgie ....
The last few weeks you have watched our family as we shared the sad news of my dad’s prognosis and eventual passing on September 11. Many of you offered comforting words either in person or through personal messages. This past Saturday we held my dad’s memorial and it really was exactly what he would have wanted – a glimpse into his life and everything that was important to him. Not everyone is comfortable sharing their pain, especially online, but I personally took great comfort in the support many of you offered - I know my parents found the same comfort during dad's illness.
Strange, but nice, little things have happened since my dad passed away that I see as signs he is okay (and I will be too one day). I will never stop missing my dad but I take comfort knowing that in the end everything was on his terms, no words were left unsaid, and he was not in pain – you can’t ask for more than that.
Thank you to everyone for reaching out and offering your support. Dad would be so pleased to know that your memorial donations to Northumberland Hills Hospital are approaching $1,000 - but I'm sure he already does know.  Never stop smiling! xo

the dash

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.

He noted that first came the date of his birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time
that he spent alive on earth...
and now only those who loved him
know what that little line is worth.

For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars....the house...the cash.
What matters is how we live an
d love
and how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard...
are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left.
(You could be at "dash midrange.")

If we could just slow down enough
to consider what's true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we've never loved before.

If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile...
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy's being read
with your life's actions to rehash...
would you be proud of the things they
say about how you spend your dash?
