Lodge Douglas No.1557 was erected & consecrated  on Saturday 27th June 1959 ...

 East Kilbride
was designated a new town in 1947
and since then many Glasgow eastenders have
moved to this town situated in the south side of
Glasgow. A number of Masonic Lodges meet in
East Kilbride, one such lodge is Lodge Douglas

...at the AEU Hall in  Bosfield Place, East Kilbride. The Hall was packed to capacity facilities were augmented by two large tents pitched outside the Hall, which provided cloakrooms. Strange how these stories develop for I happen to be very friendly with David Dick and I recently found out that he is a founder member of Lodge Douglas.

Twenty-five years later along with myself,
Jas Turnbull, a Bridgeton boy now living in
East Kilbride, attended Lodge Douglas's
25th Anniversary celebrations in 1984.

Lodge Douglas bought the AEU Hall & the opening of Douglas Hall took place on 15th Nov.1986.

Brigton boys from Lodge Burnside 1361, Wull McArthur & Jas Turnbull entertaining at the opening.
We both attended the 25th Anniversary, the opening of the new hall and we plan
to be at the 50th anniversary in 2009.
