ROME: Our
flights and accomodation were superbly organised
by our RWM.
We were delighted to travel to Rome from
Scotland to attend the meeting and it was
interesting to see Lodge No.237 wear the
MacBride tartan, wear their apron as per the
Scottish tradition and enter the Lodge to the
sound of Scottish bagpipes playing 'Scotland the
Brave”.
Our Scottish deputation of 18 including 4
Reigning masters was headed by Burnside's RWM Keith Walton PM
and we were warmly welcomed into the temple to
the stirring sounds of bagpipes.

|
Grand Lodge
of Scotland was represented by our own Bro.Jim
Turnbull PM, Lodge Burnside and Bro.John
McLeish PM, Lodge Dalhousie. The Italian
Provincial Grand Master was also in
attendance. The Lodge conferred an entered
apprentice degree in Italian on a new candidate
with one or two moments explained in English.

Domus San Sebastiáno from time of Caesar,
was expertly turned into an atmospheric Lodge
temple, it was a real wow factor! |

Harmony banquet with the Italian

As the evening came to an end
Bro.Will.McArthur PM, played his penny whistle and
gave the brethren a rendition of Robert
Burns
“Ye
banks and braes” . Then got the brethren
to form a circle and played the whistle for 'Auld
Lang Syne' which the Italian brethren eagerly
participated in. |

Our 4 day visit

The
Tiber River, also known as Tevere in
Italian, is on of Italy's longest rivers and runs
right through Rome

The Spanish Steps are a
monumental staircase that connects the
Piazza di Spagna at the bottom and the Piazza
Trinita dei Monti at the top.
They are located at Rome's historic centre and
consist of 135 steps.
Built between 1723 and 1725
( Spanish Steps get their name from the square at
the bottom called Spanish Square or Piazza di
Spagna )

St Peter's Square the large plaza
located directly in front of St Peter's Basilica
in the Vatican City

We all had a memorable time in Rome and our
Italian hosts were superb
